The pair is worked in sheer beaded overlace: each sleeve starts high on the upper arm just below the shoulder and tapers all the way down over the wrist, leaving the shoulders, neckline and back completely bare. That is exactly what a detachable sleeve is for on a strapless ball gown. The beading carries the sparkle of the Alaska bodice out along the arms for the ceremony and the formal photographs, then lifts straight off for the reception without a second dress, a jacket or a single alteration.
