How to Measure for a Formal Dress
Measure before choosing a size
Designer dress sizing varies. Use your current measurements and the size chart for the exact style, rather than relying only on your usual clothing size. A soft measuring tape should lie flat without digging into your body.
- Bust: measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level across your back.
- Waist: measure around your natural waist without pulling the tape tight.
- Hips: with your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
What if my measurements fall into different sizes?
Contact Jan's with the designer, style number and your measurements before ordering. The appropriate choice depends on the garment's construction and the alterations it may allow. Do not assume that a dress can always be let out.
